About the I.A.S.

The IAS celebrated its 80th Anniversary back in 2017!

Founded in 1937, the Irish Astronomical Society (I.A.S.) is the longest existing astronomical organization in Ireland. It is a voluntary (non-commercial) organisation established to foster an interest in the wonders of the night sky and the science of Astronomy. Members include both amateur and professional astronomers.

You are very welcome to join us!

Chuireadh Cumann Réalteolaíocta na hÉireann (CRÉ) ar bun sa bhliain 1937 chun spéis a chothú agus a leathnú in iontaisí na cruinne. Sé an CRÉ an cumann réalteolaíochta is buaine a mhaireann in Éirinn. Cumann deonach sea é agus ar a bhallríocht áirítear réalteolaithe amaitéaracha agus gairmiúla. Beidh fáilte is fiche romhat má shocríonn tú ar teacht isteach. Níl aon coinníoll maidir le bheith eolach ar an réalteolaíocht.
